Old man time. That wisened old figure, acutely aware of swiftly moving sands around him…

Here we find Filippo de Monte. A 16th Century compositional giant, who time has almost forgotten. A man known for his calm demeanour and softly spoken voice, his output within the madrigal genre has never been surpassed.

But between 1577-83 things changed radically for de Monte … and at almost 60 year of age he was forced to adapt to new circumstances.

L’Isola will now undertake a large scale study on de Monte, presenting his finest output alongside contemporaries and students, and placing him back atop the tree of high art.
